A big hole was suddenly dropped in a town in Germany. Hole as deep as 20 meters was wide open in the middle of residential areas in the city of Schmalkalden, eastern Germany on Monday, November 1 local time.

Sinkhole formation measuring about 30 meters by 30 meters was swallowing a car and a garage door. No one was reported injured in this incident.

Officers went to the site at about 3 am local time yesterday after a citizen called the officer. The residents claimed to hear voices that are not normal.

As a result of this incident, 6 houses have been vacated. A total of 25 people occupants of houses has been temporarily living in other places.

Lutz Katschmann, the official office environment and geological state of Thuringia, says that the sinkhole is not clear why the ground up to form a large hole. Such as reported by German news agency, DAPD as reported by News.com.au, Tuesday (11/02/2010).

According Katschmann, the possibility of foundation rock under the soil is damaged so as to create cavities. Authorities planned to fill the big hole with pebbles.
